Bled, sweat and tears pays for gold!

Lakeland race crews posing in front of the beautiful lake bled with some new gold laden jewellery to show off!

Lakeland crews took to the skies, flying to Bled, Slovenia to compete in the World Rowing Masters Regatta. Whilst the weather wasn’t sure if it wanted to witness racing of this calibre over the week, causing some races to be cancelled, Lakeland crews were still lucky enough to show their quality over 1000m in each of their categories with many of those who attended leaving with new gold medals to set off the scanners at the airport on the return flight!

A total of seven Lakeland rowers came back as champions from their races on the lake with the following results to boast:

  • Celia Whittam winning in the WG 1x.

  • Celia Whittam and Julia McCumiskey winning in their double in the WF 2x.

  • Julia McCumiskey and Graeme Mactavish in the MxE 2x.

  • Sam Ayers and Nick Cowan in the MxF 2x.

Each race showcased the exceptional quality of their rowers and made Lakeland a club to be reckoned with on the lake! Congratulations to everyone!
